Section 8 Opening - Thursday, August 22nd, 2024

The North Adams Housing Authority hereby announces the opening of its Section 8 waiting list, effective Thursday, August 22nd, 2024.  Applications can be filled out from 9:00AM to 3:00PM online here, or in person at 150 Ashland Street, North Adams MA 01247.

All applications received on August 22nd, will be sorted by preference, and selected for the waiting list by random drawing. (List of Preferences Below)

Copies of Photo ID's, Birth Certificates, Social Security Cards & Income are needed. As well as verification of any preference you are claiming.  

Section 8 is a separate program than Public Housing, you will need to apply for this program on its own.  Applying for the Section 8 waiting list will not affect your position of the Public Housing waitlist.

If a disability hinders you from completing the application online, call 413-663-5379 to seek a reasonable accommodation.  Applicants who are provided an application on August 22nd but wish to fill out the application later will only have fourteen (14) days to return a fully completed application.  Applications received during that period will be placed on the waiting list based on the date and time of application receipt.

Preference #1: Given to applicants living or working in North Adams, Adams, Cheshire, Clarksburg, Florida, Monroe, New Ashford, Savoy and Williamstown who have been displaced through no fault of their own or as a result of Domestic Violence. 

Preference #2: Given to families living or working in North Adams, Adams, Cheshire, Clarksburg, Florida, Monroe, New Ashford, Savoy and Williamstown who are homeless or at risk of being homeless through no fault of their own.

Preference #3: Given to families living or working in North Adams, Adams, Cheshire, Clarksburg, Florida, Monroe, New Ashford, Savoy, and Williamstown.
